Alex's The 3 stroke challenge

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am Alex Galloway and I lost my brother Johnny to suicide in 2004.
Every 90 minutes someone in the UK or Ireland takes their
own life. I want to raise funds for a local Mental Health charity Stepping Out, based in North Berwick.
Sadly in the UK 1 in 4 people
will suffer from mental health problems and 1 in 20 attendances
at A&E have thoughts of suicide.
In 2018 I suffered 3 strokes in 48 hours whilst holidaying in Germany I am now partially sighted and can only see out of one eye, I’m colour blind and have balance and mobility issues. Following my stroke I myself now receive psychological support from the Astley Ainslie hospital.
A major factor in my return to any kind of mental and physical health has been my love of golf and the time I have spent on the putting green at the Glen Golf Club.
To raise funds for Stepping Out on 28th August 2021 (which will be the 3rd anniversary of when I suffered the strokes) I am going to attempt to play my first round of 18 holes of golf in 3
years, with the company of 3 friends- all of whom knew Johnny from childhood.
I know that Stepping Out’s local and prompt support encouraged Johnny to “carry on” in times of terrible depression before his untimely death at the age 42. Funding for local projects such as Stepping Out has never been more needed and that is why I hope you will support and sponsor me.
Please help me to help people who need support. Just £15 can
offer an hour of tailored individual mental health support from Stepping Out.
