Story

THE DISASTER On 3rd December 1984, lethal Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked out of a Union Carbide pesticide factory in Bhopal, India, instantly killing and injuring thousands of people. Carbide claims the death toll to be 3,800 but the locals and NGOs believe at least 10,000-15,000 people died during the disaster. The Bhopal Gas Disaster is titled the Worlds Worst Industrial Disaster. THE SECOND POISONING The disaster has continued to affect the communities in Bhopal through what is referred to as the Second poisoning. The disaster site or Union Carbides toxic dumping grounds have not been cleaned up. The water near the plant is being poisoned each day and reaching new communities, worsening their health. Today, the new generations continue to suffer from disabilities, organ failures and poor health.
