Story

I’m Alessandro, a Brazilian Dentist working in London.  Covid and the entire pandemic was globally enlightening.  Through personal insight, I am more aware than ever that the people whom I meet on my journey and my shared experiences are everything that is valuable in my life. I am a work in progress.  Every day I am searching for my purpose in the world …

With this in mind, I am planning to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.  My walk will take the entire month of June 2022.  I am currently training for what I expect will undoubtedly be a challenging physical , mental and emotional journey.

I will be taking the commonly agreed-upon route for El Camino de Santiago (a.k.a. the Way of St. James) begins at Saint Jean Pied de Port, France, and travels 500 miles through four of Spain's 15 regions, ending at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

This pilgrimage is something that I have considered for a number of years but work, family and all sorts of commitments prevented me from doing so.  Now is the right time for me.  I am hoping that this opportunity for introspection, meditation, and physically pushing myself will further my faith, deepen my spirituality and provide an adventure not of the norm.  I am excited to meet people from all walks of life and the idea of so many walking a mutual path for  such a variety of reasons is an incredible thought.

I am walking the El Camino de Santiago in honour of Damien Harte.  Damien was a long-standing patient who I had the pleasure of meeting when I first began working as a Dentist in London.  Sadly, this world lost Damien in September 2020 to Sarcoma.

Damien was the kindest, coolest man and it was an honour to know him.  I am privileged with the good health to walk The Camino as he did and raise funds in his name.

I am asking that you sponsor me on my journey.  I am not good at asking for support, help, assistance… call it what you will.  But I am humbled today to say dig deep and help me raise money for this very important cause.  This is a first for me.  It doesn’t matter if the amount is large or small, Every penny counts.   I am grateful for the opportunity to join Damien’s family in commemorating him.

I will keep you all abreast of my progress via social media.  Thanks for reading this and I really hope that you’ll join me on my journey in spirit.

Yours in friendship

Alessandro x
