At Asthma + Lung UK, our vision is for a world where everyone has healthy lungs. From research and campaigning to advice and support, as the UK’s lung charity we’re on a mission to change the way that lung health is perceived. Because breath is life - and that’s worth fighting for.

Story

Many years ago I decided that I wanted to swim the English Channel and this August I will be attempting that personal challenge. Although this is something I am doing for my own personal achievement I would like to raise money for the British Lung Foundation (BLF). I am a physiotherapist with the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust West Berkshire Community Respiratory Team and work closely with people who have been diagnosed with a respiratory condition. My work helps to keep these patients in the security and comfort of their home and the BLF provides great support for them and their families as well as providing a great source of information.

The English Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world and is about 21 miles point to point but most swimmers swim further due to tides and currents. The challenges of tides, ships and weather conditions make this one of the toughest open water swims and it is often referred to as the 'Everest of swimming'.

Your Support, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
