Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Alex Flynn and I have had Parkinson's for 13 years.

On the 24th of April 2020 at 6 am (UK), I will attempt a marathon on my stairs. The distance to cover is 26.2 miles (138,336 feet) and with over 69,168 feet of ascent I will climb affectively 2.3 times the height of Everest.

I am doing this challenge to raise funds for the Parkinson's UK critical appeal to help them provide support to scared and vulnerable people with Parkinson's disease during the coronavirus pandemic.

I will endeavour to climb stairs for at least 15 hours a day and cover as much distance as safely as I can interspersing those periods with brief sleep and trying to avoid falling down the stairs. Depending on how my Parkinson's reacts, I am hopeful to get the distance covered within two days.

However, because of my Parkinson's disease, this challenge is going to be exceptionally difficult.

The risks are very real.

I would love for other people to take on challenges, maybe not on stairs, and help me raise vital funds Parkinson's UK!

If you have time to join me this weekend to raise money for Parkinson's UK, in whatever capacity you can, that would be amazing!

Together we can make change happen and really make a difference.

Thank you for your donation and thanks for making a difference for people with Parkinson's! It's truly appreciated!!

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
