Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Roddy Scott was killed in September 2002 in Ingushetia while travelling with Chechen rebel fighters; the group was ambushed by Russian forces and Roddy was killed in the cross-fire. He was 31 when he died, a fine journalist and an unusually determined and loyal character. Roddy dedicated the last years of his life to telling the story of the conflict between Chechnya and Russia because he felt it important, especially after 9/11, and ignored by the western media.
The Roddy Scott Foundation (RSF) was set up by Roddy's parents, Stina and Robin, to provide English language teachers and teaching materials to the Pankisi schools educating local young people, including the children of the Chechen refugees. The Foundation does amazing work on a shoe string, providing marginalised children with skills they need to build successful lives. I have met many of the Foundation's volunteer teachers and they are an amazingly dedicated and inspiring bunch of people.
