Event: Run Frimley 2018
In memory of Alex Smith-Gander
We invest in advanced hospital facilities to save and improve lives

Story

We (my mum Margaret, son Harry 8, daughter Daisy 4) are taking part in the Run Frimley 2018. My Dad was first admitted to the Stroke Unit in January 2015 and he spent 7 weeks on the stroke ward & a further 5 months at a rehab unit in Woking. Then sadly on 1st March he suffered another stroke whilst admitted for a TIA. On 17th April my dad Alex Smith-Gander passed away at Frimley Park hospital after a further stroke and he became too ill to continue his kidney dyalysis. My Dad had excellent care from wonderful staff but improving the facilities is a fantastic idea and much needed. We decided to take part in the fun run as a family and I am doing the 10km before dad passed away as he was in the stroke unit at the time & we wanted to help contribute to the improvements. It was my Dad’s funeral on Friday and we wanted to still do this in memory of my wonderful much loved Dad.
