Story

I have decided to cycle and broadcast for UK Sepsis Trust . This month I am cycling for sepsis in memory of my mum who died of the disease in October 2018 . My mum and I were very close and her sudden loss filled me with overwhelming grief which I find difficult to deal with to this very day. I am using my mums anniversary in a positive way to support the charity and help fight this dangerous disease that is still not very well understood.  I want to raise awareness of Sepsis and funds for the UK Sepsis Trust.

I am aiming to reach a total of 50 miles on my bike by the end of the month and to combine this with a 12 hour marathon radio broadcast on 91.8 Hayes Fm on October 8th .

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
