The Parasol Project is an Oxford based charity committed to redressing the balance for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people experiencing, or at risk of, social exclusion.

Story

What started as a drunken bet has resulted in entering the Paris Marathon, where we will run a grand total of 26.2 miles. (It's a LOT longer than we first thought!) We have decided to raise funds for The Parasol Project, an Oxford based charity committed to redressing the balance for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people experiencing, or at risk of social exclusion. Disabled children are often excluded from their local provision as a result of the level of support they need. We would like to raise funds to support the residential trip that Parasol organises each summer, which for many,  is their first time away from home and out of Oxford.

I have seen first-hand the brilliant work The Parasol Project does for young people, through my sister who began volunteering at the age 14 and five years later is now a Play Worker. I have also seen the impact that Parasol activities have had on a close family friend who has Down Syndrome. Parasol gives Tom the opportunity to have a social life that many of us take for granted. He has been part of the Parasol family for a number of years and has hugely benefited from all of the activities they provide and has particularly enjoyed the residential trips they organise each summer.

This is a massive challenge for us. Training is now overtaking our lives, we are determined to succeed for Parasol, but in order for this to be a real success, we need your help.
