My brother, Ben Woodhouse and I hope to succeed in a charity bike ride from our grandparents home in Porchfield, on Isle Of Wight to our family holiday apartment in Los Cristianos, Tenerife (via Santander).  Our Grandmother was recently diagnosed with cancer for a 3rd time and she was placed into the Earl Mountbatten Hospice where she was cared for by the amazing nurses and volunteers right up until the moment she passed away on the 5th October 2015. The Earl Mountbatten Hopsice is an 'independent charity providing comprehensive end-of-life healthcare for the Isle of Wight community.' They support and care for people living with and dying from a life-limiting illness. In 2012/13 they provided FREE support for over 1800 patients and their families. This support is vital in assisting both the patient and their families to live out their lives in as peaceful and comfortable way as possible. To be able to continue to offer this essential assistance, the charity must raise over £2 million pound a year. As well as the staff whom work there they also have over 500 volunteers giving up their free time to help the patients and families both in and outside of the hospice. 

The support my Grandma and our family received from the people at the Early Mountbatten Hospice was absolutely astounding, and it truly was an incredible place, where an awfully difficult few weeks of losing a loved one was made that little bit easier by some inspirational nurses and volunteers.

 These amazing people help to care and bring happiness to those most in need. I feel, the least we can do to repay the kindness and support shown, is to assist in raising whatever funds I can to help the charity continue to support others like my family.

Our plan is to leave her family home on 26/7/16 and cycle to Fishbourne where will will take to boat to Portsmouth. From there will will take the ferry to Santander. We will then cycle from the North to the south of Spain arriving at Huelva. From here we will take the ferry to Santa Cruz (North Tenerife) and cycle to the south of the island (Los Cristianos).
