I’m setting up this JustGiving page as I’m on a journey to fulfil one my life-long dreams of running the London Marathon on Sunday October 3rd - 2021. My place is sponsored by Leukaemia Care who I’ll be raising money for throughout the year. 

One of the main reasons I’m spurred on to run for a charity like Leukaemia Care is because I’ve witnessed the effects and the heartache this cruel illness can bring on a family. Roy was my girlfriend Anna’s late uncle, who was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of Leukaemia in July 2016. Roy was told the devastating news he may have only two years left to live. With excellent treatment from the Leukaemia department and a very dedicated specialist nurse, plus family support Roy defeated all the odds and ending up living for an extra year.Unfortunately though, after such a brave battle, Roy passed away in August 2019 but his strength and attitude to fighting this disease was inspirational.

I want to support this charity more than ever so that Roy’s memory will live on and inspire us all, and others, like him, will stand a fighting chance against this awful illness. So that’s why I'm Running for Roy! 

Another person in Anna’s family has also fought this disease with great courage, strength and determination. Roy’s little Grandson Tommy, whowas diagnosed in April 2017 at just 3 years old,with the same aggressive Leukaemia as Roy. Having battled the disease for almost 4 years,Tommy is now in remission and hopefully, can now live life to the full. With strong family support and acharity like Leukaemia Care Tommy has received excellent treatment and support and again, bonded with the specialist Leukaemia doctors and nurses during his long battle.  

Running for Roy (and Tommy) is the perfect way for everyone to make a difference but we need your support to do it. I’m hoping to raise at least £2,500 for this fantastic charity so every penny counts.
