We are there when it matters to support people through dying or grief.

Story

Sadly, we lost Dad in July last year. He spent his final days at the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, Keighley. The level of care Dad received there was truly phenomenal, and it gave our family great comfort at an utterly heartbreaking time.

We are fundraising for the hospice, by undertaking the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. For those who don't know, the challenge is pretty much a marathon in mountains. It includes climbing higher than Ben Nevis in total, and we are aiming to do it in under 12 hours. The plan is to do this on the first anniversary of Dad's passing. We want to honour his memory and do something positive, to help others when they need it most, rather than sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves on an otherwise difficult day. We want all funds raised to go specifically to Manorlands Hospice, to give something back and to allow them to continue their vital work. We will be forever grateful for all that they did for Dad and the support that they gave to us too. The hospice rely heavily on fundraising to keep going, so every donation counts. They really do provide an invaluable service, which makes such a difference to families like ours.

Dad loved getting out walking around Yorkshire, so it feels like a very apt (though slightly daunting) challenge. We would REALLY appreciate any donations and support, let's do him proud and raise as much money as we can for Manorlands! We will keep you updated on our progress and training here, or you can also follow our journey on instagram: @mountainsformanorlands https://www.instagram.com/mountainsformanorlands/... wish us luck and thank you for visiting our page!!!

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
