London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
Hi there! My name is Alexa and I’ve spent most of my life avoiding long distance running. But when I started my career in Public Relations in NYC in 2012, I signed up for the Brooklyn Half Marathon to have a goal outside of work. I loved having a purpose beyond my work to-do list and quickly learned the power of mental strength and Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It” on repeat – because those two things can get you through anything.
Since moving to London in 2020, I’ve been feeling ready for the next challenge. After a half marathon in Leeds this past December, my two running buddies (Sophie and Elana) and I decided to go for London 2023! Still feels a bit crazy and have many moments of self-doubt, but we’re loving the challenge each and every week and pushing ourselves to new limits!
And what makes all of this feel so much more meaningful is that I’m able to run for a charity and raise money for a cause I truly care about. Since I moved to London, I have had the incredible opportunity to work with Dexcom (one of my PR clients). Dexcom is a pioneer and leader in real-time continuous glucose monitoring – technology that works to simplify diabetes management. My team works with “Dexcom
Warriors”, ambassadors living with Type 1 Diabetes, who are passionate about spreading awareness, educating, and empowering the diabetes community and beyond. I am thrilled to be running the London Marathon for Diabetes UK, an organisation at the forefront of diabetes research, as I’ve seen first-hand how people living with
diabetes are truly warriors and the importance of technology to live the highest quality life.
I appreciate it’s not the easiest economic environment, but any donation to this important cause would mean the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read!
