Our names are Alex and Finn, and we were at school with Ewan, in the same house, and I (Alex) was a very close friend of his. After his passing, we both became motivated to help in any way we could in order to lessen the stigma, open up discussion, and help to prevent young suicide. We had originally planned to complete the race in 2022, and we couldn't be more touched by the kind donations from people in the run up to this attempt. Unfortunately, due to Covid and other personal circumstances, we were unable to complete this goal. But now for GOOD NEWS! In order to raise money for this wonderful charity, Finn and myself will be competing in the 2025 Devizes to Westminster non-stop canoe race, a race along the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Thames, which combines marathon paddling, over 70 sprints, and eating on the go (a particularly tricky task). The race is 125 miles in total, and this great cause, as well as Ewan's memory, will be our motivation to complete the 'Everest of amateur canoe races'.
