Brecons Challenge 2016 · 23 July 2016
I will be attempting the Brecons Challenge on July 23rd with my friends and colleagues from Lloyds Bank in order to raise over £1000 for our 'Charity of the Year', BBC Children in Need.
The Brecon Challenge is also known as the Fan Dance and has long been part of the UK Special Forces’ selection process. It is a 15 mile long march over Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons, south Wales. It is used as the first major indicator of whether a candidate has the physical and mental determination needed to join the UK Special Forces.
The Brecons Challenge is commonly underestimated. We will need to draw upon all of the physical and mental strength that we can muster to ascend 1200 metres and hike 15 miles, in addition to overcoming the rough terrain and potential sleep deprivation.
