From 4 - 18 May 2013, I, and three friends, will cycle the length of Great Britain; from John o' Groats to Land's End. On the way, we will climb each of the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales: Ben Nevis; Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

 

We estimate that we will cycle approximately 1100 miles and climb a total 11,178 ft; all within 14 days, unsupported.

 

More than 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. The chances of being directly affected by this devastating illness are unacceptably high.

 

Unite Against Cancer (SC043017) is a new Scottish registered cancer charity that was set up in 2012 to fund research into new cancer treatments.

Its objectives include:

• Helping to raise money to fund world-class research to improve our understanding of cancer and to find out how to prevent, diagnose, and treat different kinds of cancer.

• Working in partnership with others to achieve the greatest impact in the global fight against cancer.

• Raising money to make available more facilities for cancer patients to receive the treatment, care, and support they require.

• To raise awareness of the various treatments that are available to cancer sufferers, and to educate on cancer prevention.

This is a cause which means a great deal to me personally. I'm sure it will also mean a great deal to many of you.
