London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
I am running the London Marathon 2022 in aid of Spinal Research.Someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications. Spinal Research is the UKs leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to beat paralysis.Spinal Research do not receive funding from the government, all of their projects are funded by donations. With your help, we can #BeatParalysis.
Back in 2019 I ended up in hospital because I had Transverse Myelitis caused by a parasite I'd picked up 3 years prior with no knowledge. It took 5 weeks for the doctors to find out what it was and another 5 on the neuro-rehab ward before I was discharged home. I had 6 months of very intense rehab, and 3 years on I still work on the deficits I will likely have for the rest of my life. However I am very lucky and I know that many with a SCI don't get to walk around like I can now. It is for this reason I want to raise money for them to help eliminate paralysis!
