Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have lived in London all my life and have worked in and around the square mile all my professional life.
I have decided to put myself through running over 26 miles in the London Marathon on 26th April 2009, this gives me an opportunity to raise money for a very worthy charity.
Alone in London is a charity that focuses on providing emotional and practical support to vulnerable young people within inner London.
The charity also works in schools talking to the children about the dangers of running away from home and making them aware that there are people out there that will listen and offer assistance before they make the decision to leave the family home.
£250 will provide one child with an initial assessment, secure safe accommodation; family mediation; assistance with rebuilding communications; advised on training / employment and possible return to education.
£200 will allow 5 classes of about 30 children to have this lesson.
£26 allows 2 children to have an initial assessment at an Alone in London drop in centre. somewhere safe to discuss their problems.
If I can get 100 people to sponsor me for an average of £26 ( i.e. £1 per mile) I will exceed my target, however I would like to improve on this target and look forward to your incentives for beating my personal target time of 4 hours in my first marathon.
All sponsorship how ever much is greatly appreciated by the Charity, myself and the children who are in the position of needing help.
Thank you for sponsoring me.
(Donating through Just giving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alone in London gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.)
