Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, Samuel was born with severe breathing difficulties resulting in him having a tracheostomy (artificial airway) at 5 weeks old. Due to the severity of his condition, he was in hospital for the first 5 months of his life which was an extremely stressful and difficult time for us. When he eventually came home, he had to be monitored 24hrs of the day by either a nurse or ourselves. Because tracheostomies are not a well publicised medical condition, we felt that there was insufficient help and advice and at times felt alone.
However, we by chance found out about ACT (Aid for Children with Tracheostomies) and became members of this charity. The information and support that ACT provided such as assisting us with medical equipment issues and sending out regular newsletters detailing other families' experiences was invaluable. We soon realised that we were not the only parents in this difficult situation.
So as a thank you, I will be running the London Marathon in April and will be trying to raise as much money as possible for ACT.
