Marathon for Myeloma

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
I am using my London Marathon 2023 ballot place to fundraise for Myeloma UK. Myeloma is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells that accounts for 2% of all cancers. This is a great opportunity to support patients like my Dad, Hamish.
Dad has been an extraordinary role model over the past 4 years since diagnosis. This has included tackling a stem cell transplant during covid lockdown Christmas 2020, which was incredibly nerve-racking. He quickly regained enormous energy and enthusiasm for life, despite the burden of ongoing twice weekly treatments - a combination of targeted drugs, chemotherapy and steroids. As a family, we have experienced the vital role of newly emerging therapies in terms of prognosis and quality of life. The aim of myeloma care is to achieve and maintain remission for as long as possible as, sadly, it is rarely curable.
This is a condition very close to my heart and your donations are hugely appreciated. They will allow Myeloma UK to provide information and support to patients and their families, invest in innovative research and importantly advocate for access to new treatments. Thank you xx
