I am taking part in the Great North Swim - a mile open water swim in Lake Windermere - on 10th June to raise funds for Youth Focus North East.

Youth Focus North East have been working with a group of young people from the Springwell Estate since the devastating death of their friend Tomasz Oleszak last year. They hold an open access youth session every Thursday evening where the young people can come to relax and hang out. They provide food each week which the young people have started cooking for themselves and they have also been working on decorating the memorial garden next to the community centre and adding a bench for Tom. 

Without additional funding for these sessions the organization will no longer be able to work with these amazing young people. Funds raised from this swim will go directly towards this work in Springwell.
