Annapurna Basecamp Trek · 26 April 2020

We strongly believe that raising awareness of pancreatic cancer and its signs and symptoms can save lives and the reason for the need to raise awareness to the general public, GP's and other medical institutes in Gibraltar. We continuously push all our efforts towards creating awareness through GHA channels and other avenues to key personnel and the general public.

Story

On Tuesday 20th April we will finally be heading off on our 9 day trekking challenge to Annapurna Basecamp to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Gibraltar Charitable Trust. We have chosen to support this charity because it is very close to Alexandra’s heart as it was founded by her uncle Louis, who himself is fighting the disease. We hope that through this personal challenge we will raise some money to help Louis and his charity continue raising awareness and improve the lives of those living with cancer.

This trek is one of the most popular in the area as it combines diverse landscapes at varying altitudes and spectacular views of four of the most impressive mountain peaks within the Himalayan region. Annapurna is the 8th tallest mountain in the world, standing at 8,091m above sea level. Our goal is to reach its basecamp. As lovers of nature, outdoor activities and adventure we were instantly drawn to this trek after hearing about it from a friend. Although trekking at high altitudes for 9 days will prove to be a challenge, we are sure that it will be an extremely rewarding experience being surrounded by stunning scenery, learning about Nepalese culture and helping to promote and support pancreatic cancer awareness.
