Team Capricorn

Rotary Shakespeare Half Marathon · 28 April 2013
Last year was a spectacularly rubbish one for the Fraser family.
In an entirely unnecessary piece of father-and-son bonding, both Will and Harry underwent major back surgery, then, out of the blue, Alex needed a hysterectomy. Just as we were all hoping that was ‘our three’, Alex was diagnosed with breast cancer and three more major operations followed.
We all received fantastic care but also saw how incredibly stretched the NHS is. With cancer, early diagnosis is critical, and so, with your help, we would love to buy a very important and potentially life-saving piece of kit for the Breast Care Unit at Warwick Hospital.
Our family were lucky enough to have incredible surgeons, medical teams, physios, a personal fitness trainer and lots of fantastic friends, both old and new, who between them comforted, cajoled and cared for us through the whole, horrible experience. Now, they are all going the extra mile for us again. Well, an extra thirteen and half miles to be precise, as they’ve agreed to join us on April 28th to run the Stratford upon Avon half marathon. As the more experienced athletes in the group keep telling us, "it's only a half-marathon" but, for some of us, it will feel like a personal marathon and for those in our merry team who confess to having never run more than a bath before, it’s quite a challenge.
We're calling our team Capricorn - a name suggested by our son Harry because Capricorn is as far away from cancer as possible. That's a place we'd all love to be, so please help us achieve this for many, many women by making a donation. However big or small, we'd all be so grateful as we are aiming to raise £20,000.
