Velindre is Wales' premier cancer centre providing treatment, care and support to patients and their families. Money raised by fundraisers allows them to support projects over and above thoseprovided by the NHS including ground breaking research, specialist equipment, nurses and staff training.
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected by cancer. I have lost two dear friends overthe years, most recently one of my best friends, Jonathan Walters.
In 2017 I hosted a Velindre fundraising Quiz Night with Rhod Gilbert as Quiz Master. Jon opened the event for us detailing his journey, and the support and care he received at Velindre. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. The treatment Jon received at Velindre Cancer Centre was incredible. He valued every single member of staff.
I am supporting Velindre Cancer Centre participating in a 5-day trek of Mount Toubkal. First climbed in 1923, Velindre aredelighted to offer our latest overseas treks – the 100th Anniversary climb of North Africa’s highest peak – Mount Toubkal. Located in southwestern Morocco, Mt. Toubkal is the tallest peak in the Atlas Mountains standing at 4,167 metres (13,671ft) high.
I am determined to raise as much as I can for Velindre.
Velindre is recognised as The Hospital Of Hope, and this is made possible because of the fantastic and committed support of our donors and fundraisers.Fundraising efforts and donations help them continue to be the leading provider of radiotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments in Wales. It allows them to fund projects which improve the experience and outcomes of patients receiving care and support here.
With our support, they are able to offer better quality of care through complex treatment pathways, earlier access to cutting edge treatments, research into new treatments, purchase specialistequipment, fund invaluable support services and resources along with ensuring our staff have access to the most up to date training and techniques available.
