Story
I've learned that I am hardwired to try and fix problems, even if they are impossible to address on my own. That's why I'm running the Sheffield Half Marathon in support of Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
For over 70 years the UK has been home to a healthcare system many countries can only dream of, but a rapidly aging population and significant under investment means that nearly every aspect of the system is starting to fail.
I can't fix that but I can endure 13.5 miles, half of which is up-hill, to try and raise much needed funds for Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
Sheffield Hospitals Charity's core mission is to enhance the care and treatment of patients accessing NHS services in Sheffield, by supporting high-priority areas which are beyond the scope of government funding.
If you can spare a few pounds or your company wants to play a small role in helping to support the NHS then please give thought to supporting this good cause.
If that were not reason enough. I say again. Sheffield's devilish half marathon course involves enduring a 6.5 mile climb straight out from the start line.
Thanks for reading. All of us likely know someone who has had their life saved by the NHS. Every little helps, as the politicians remain challenged on how to really fix the problems that our NHS faces.
