Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig as deep as you can and sponsor me online.

Donating through this JustGiving site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Helen Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

As many of you will know my amazing, vivacious and beautiful little sister Helen was tragically killed in a car accident on Boxing Day. Helen was a budding actress and was passionately committed to the arts during her all too short life. While it is difficult to make sense of such a devastating and heartbreaking loss, as a family, we felt that it was very important that something positive should come from this tragedy to serve as a living legacy to our Helen. With this in mind we have set up (along with Helen's boyfriend Ben) an arts-based charity called The Helen Foundation to support, motivate and inspire young people in all branches of the arts in the area of South Devon where we grew up, particularly young people who may otherwise not have the financial means to realise their hopes and dreams. These objectives are to be met predominantly through sponsored arts workshops, school prizes and individual bursaries. Please check out the new website at www.thehelenfoundation.org.uk for further information on The Helen Foundation.

I am also now doing this run in memory of my grandmother, Janet Morris, who died recently following a long battle against cancer. She was a truly amazing person who had a real passion for the arts throughout her life and keenly supported The Helen Foundation's ambitions.

The British 10k London Run is one of the Foundation's major fundraising initiatives this year and I have been busy pounding the streets of London to get myself into shape for this event on 2 July. Running for the sake of running is not something I particularly enjoy, especially as my feet seem to be prone to go completely numb once I hit around the 6-7k mark which leaves me having to run on what feels like stumps! Definitely not much fun - and I am hoping that having your support and sponsorship behind me will at least assist my motivation levels in the final stages of my training programme and of course on the race day itself.

So please sponsor me now! This is truly a worthwhile cause and your support will really make a difference to the young people we are able to reach out to.

Many, many thanks in advance for your kind support and generosity.
