In 2021 over 300 runners will take on the world famous London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the MS Society. This is their team page.

Story

**£2k was the target I needed to hit to be able to run, but I'm keen to push beyond this and raise as much as possible, to help stop MS more quickly**

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

So, yeah, on Sunday 3rd October I’m running the London Marathon. A bit bonkers, and not something I ever really had a massive urge to do... Until 2020 happened…

Why

  • I’ve always run a bit alongside playing 5-a-side, but never had the urge to keep running for 4 hours non-stop. During lockdown I started to get properly into it though, for my mental health more than anything else… and then started thinking about something to aim for.

  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects around 130,000 people in the UK, including several people close to me over the last few years. It can affect the brain and spinal cord causing a range of potentially life-changing symptoms. With more funding to enable research and treatment, so the process of stopping MS in its tracks can be accelerated.

  • Putting these things together, I tentatively applied to run for the MS Society, not thinking I’d have a chance of getting in. A couple of weeks later I got a call saying I had.

So I’ve decided to do what I can to stop this thing, by raising as much as I can by running as far as I can… 26.2 miles, I hope...

Targets

I’ve got a
£2000 fundraising target and I’m aiming to run it in 3hrs 45mins.

Some context, as I didn’t have a clue what a good time looked like before… Fewer than 25% of marathoners have broken the 4 hour barrier.

Training

I'm doing quite a lot of it.

But don't worry, I'm not planning on spamming everyone with sunrise stretching shots or an insight into my pre-race meal prep.

If you've got this far, thanks again. And anything you are able to contribute to the cause will be very gratefully received.

Can MS really be stopped?

Yes. This recent Guardian article explains more about where things are at currently:

We can all play a part in stopping this condition. A condition that can affect any of us, at any point in our lives.
