Alfie, Lizzie & Mark Swim Windermere · 9 July 2021

It helps children who are suffering from leukaemia and cancer. It also helps members of the family who are in need, hardship or distress while supporting such children.

Story

On July 9th, Alfie, Lizzie and Mark are taking on Windermere - England's longest lake!! They are braving 16.5 km/10 miles of swimming in ice cold water in aid of the Emily Ash Trust.

As a result of the global pandemic, The Emily Ash Trust has not been able to run their usual fundraising events. The amazing and life changing experiences they provide have become more challenging to deliver during these times.

Consequently, Alfie, Lizzie and Mark want to use this epic swim as an opportunity to raise as much money as possible for the charity. This will help The Emily Ash Trust get back to what they do best, creating life changing experiences for children and their families battling cancer.

Training has been a lot more challenging than anticipated due to closure of pools and lakes throughout the lockdowns and they have been left with less than 3 months to train for the Marathon Swim. Alfie, Lizzie and Mark have been dipping in wheelie bins, running round Richmond and now swimming like mad men to prepare for the challenge!! We've been kindly supported by SwimSecure throughout our training by publishing our blogs and providing us with equipment such as brilliant Tow Floats.
