NHS Charities Together and its members across the UK are hugely grateful for the support received from so many since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are Alford and District Cricket Club, a village club in beautiful Lincolnshire. When the lockdown happened, we decided we would do something to stay fit, stay together as a club, and raise money for the NHS. So between us,  we exercised 11,600 miles  to visit an overseas player of ours, Rikki Bovey, who lives in New Zealand. We expected  it to take us till August 9th, so when we arrived at Rikki's on June 8th he was a bit taken aback and so were we. The sheer dedication of our members, young and old, has been incredible. And last night as we marked our arrival, someone said 'but surely, we need to get home don't we?'

And so it began, a general murmuring about 'well look we've done 11,600 what's another 11,600?' and of course the realisation that Rikki doesn't want us there forever. A visit is nice but...

So here we are again. We are now setting off, today, June 9th, on the return leg to get back to Alford in time for the Town 6s on August 9th. Same rules apply, miles must be tracked, cricket shirts/club kit should be worn if poss,  and yes you can kayak or swim or use the tandem someone's bought themselves...

The only difference is that our incredible Facebook genius Coddy will not be updating our journey daily. It was a bit exhausting and he's earned a rest, but he'll still be the keeper of the miles and we'll have a weekly update from him. When he isn't cycling. Last time we call it #ridetoRikki, this time it's #ridetoTFH (Train Fen Holt, our ground)

If you sponsor us we'll be thrilled, if you want to follow our progress and can't sponsor that's OK too you can cheer us on via our Facebook page we'd love that too. Can we reach £1000?? We hope so!
