Story

For some reason I find myself again running the London Marathon after struggling through it two years ago, I can't seem to stay away!

This year I have decided to run for St Mungo's who are a charity with a goal to end homelessness on the streets of the UK. They work tirelessly to help individuals who are homeless or at risk at being homeless with a focus on a recovery based approach identifying and addressing the issues a person faces to help them move on with their lives.

Living and working in the metropolis that is London you see homelessness everyday. As a serving Police officer in the capital I've seen first hand the great work that St Mungo's does in order to tackle homelessness and all the issues that are connected such as alcohol and drug dependencies and mental health issues to name but a few.

In Southwark where I work there are a number of St Mungo's accommodation hostels who are providing a roof and support for some of the most vulnerable people in society which is why this cause is important to me.

If you have seen me over the past 4 years or so you may have noticed that I have a rather large bushy beard and in the rare times that I have cut it, I have hidden away until it grows back!  So I thought what better way to raise money and awareness for such a good cause than running the London Marathon beardless!

Many of my current colleagues and friends have never seen me without a beard and I am very attached to it so it will be a big shock all round when the day comes to shave it off and get running. I will update this page with the day of the shave and will ensure that it is posted over Facebook and Insta!

If you’re as thrilled as I am to see what resembles a naked
mole rat  or  prepubescent 12 year old boy running the London Marathon please donate what you can to this great cause!
