Story

I have decided to take on the Great North Run one more time before I turn 50 (a few years to go yet, before you ask.

I will be running to raise money for the North East Autism Society, who for more than 40 years,  have led the way in providing autism-specific care and education for children and young people across the North East of England.
My godson Lewis has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Associated Severe Learning Disability. Lewis therefore finds the world a very scary and confusing place and needs people around him who understand his needs. Lewis has attended a number of special needs schools in the past but he was too complex for them to manage. However, he has attended Thornhill Park School (NEAS) since September 2021 and absolutely loves it. He has settled so quickly and the staff understand what he needs and likes, meaning that he spends a lot of his education outdoors exploring his surroundings. Although Lewis will always have his struggles, knowing that he is so happy at school makes the world of difference to Lewis and his family.
Please give what you can to support.
