Ali's 20 Workouts for 2020

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ramadan started on 23rd April, already over a month into the Pandemic and After 16 days, I lost my Great-Grandmother after she had battled cancer multiple times during over 85 years of living. During this time, a deadly virus was claiming the lives of hundreds nationally and thousands worldwide on a daily basis, and rendered millions of people housebound as the living conditions would potentially change many lives forever.
I have personally endured mental battles during this period, and luckily, I’ve had my faith. This allowed me to lean on God something, which has lead my spirit to seek constructive means of healing my troubled spirit.
My Great-Grandmother had told me tales of her battles with cancer. How her perception reduced challenges to something that she was very capable of defeating, even after the age of 80. She would often laugh in its face, and make jokes about battles with cancer she’d had faced successfully in the past. Many members of the family could vouch when I say, at some points she appeared invincible. It’s such an honour to be recognised as being a direct descendant of such a powerful woman. Not every person who is battling chronic or terminal illness is blessed with the same family support unit my Great-Granny had, but I would love to collaborate with members of the wider community to support the nurses and carers associated with caring for such vulnerable people during such a difficult time for us all.
So this year, in her honour and for the many people affected by COVID-19 I will be:
Fasting for a total of 40 days (10 on top of the usual for 30 for holy month of Ramadan)
Participating in 20 workouts lasting 20MINUTES each over 20 days from the 21st day of Ramadan until the 2nd June 2020 and will ideally collaborate with 10 males and 10 females.
Following the workout will discuss with people their experiences during the quarantine period in effort to share each other pain and help pick each other up during hard times.
Any donation will be appreciated as it will be going to support nurse & carers of those who didn’t have the level of support my Great-Granny had access to in her final days. Marie Curie are renowned for their palliative care support they provide to those suffering from Terminal Illnesses.
