The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Hello Friends,

On Sunday 3rd April, we (Alice + Taiwo) will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2022! Despite our long limbs, this race is a daunting task for both of us. However, the amazing cause we have chosen to run for has kept us motivated throughout our training.

We are raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity (BTC), and more specifically, for a research programme called ‘Curing the Underserved’ run by Professor Richard Gilbertson.

This unique programme aims to develop transformative therapies for two rare brain tumours affecting children. One of these tumours sadly took the life of 7-year-old Alfie Bartlam, godson of Alice’s sister Anna, in 2019.  As a result, not only will we be running for The BTC but we will also be running in memory of Alfie too.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer for children and adults under 40 and increased funding for research is desperately needed. Alfie’s parents have committed to raising £1.4M by 2024 to support Prof Gilbertson in the this programme. The research has a very real chance of finding tangible treatments and cures for children’s brain tumours and we are keen to support it.

We would be grateful for any amount of donations you are able to afford and we would like to thank you in advance for your support!

We’ll be sure to share a photo of us running (or crawling) across the finish line!

Love,

Alice + Taiwo
