As a result of long-term health conditions, more than 1 in 10 children in the UK can be denied a carefree childhood, and this number is growing. Our programmes empower children and families to explore new possibilities and rediscover the fun and magic of childhood.

Story

Alice died in 2020, just 10 days before her 40th Birthday. There was so much good she wanted to do...so now we continue to do our bit on her behalf.

Before becoming ill Alice found Over The Wall and it became her happy place. She loved volunteering in her spare time at week-long and weekend camps. OTW was full of like-minded people doing amazing things for and with children with disabilities and life limiting illnesses and their families. Alice loved the camps, loved all of the people that she met and loved making a difference to the children and their families.

When Alice knew that she was going to die she said that she didn't want people to run marathons in her memory but said that she wanted people to challenge themselves, to do something that had a real and direct impact on people who needed help. Alice said 'anything that helps make even a small difference to one person, just something'.

Donating blood, volunteering for OTW, volunteering anywhere... It's what her wonderful friend James calls #BeMoreAlice

When Alice died we raised £5.5k which was incredible…and 4 years on we’re trying to top it up some more….in March (2024), in true sisterly fashion I ignored her and ran an endurance event (running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours), Chris ran the Brighton marathon (sub-4hours-he’d want you to know), in May Pete rode Ride London (he said he won but I’m not sure) and in June with Pistol Pete and Lloydy we are cycling the Way of the Roses coast to coast ride (170 miles and 3000m of climb in 2.5 days). We’re hoping to raise some more cash for OTW. She’d appreciate us ignoring her wishes!!

The people at OTW  really do make mischief and magic ❤️

With love from Kate, Dad and Luke xx
