Story
Hi, I'm Alice and I lost my aunt Sarah to cancer almost two months ago. Sadly her battle with cancer was very brief - literally 6 weeks before her passing she was at work and had no idea about her cancer. She was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of Pelvic cancer; the aggression of it meant that within weeks of diagnosis it had spread to different parts of her body and she was too weak to undergo any treatment.
Sarah handled all this in with a bravery, strength of character and selflessness I genuinely did not think was possible in a person. She continued to laugh (if you know Sarah you will know how uncontrollably loud this could be), look for the positives in everything and above all care for everybody around her. I can't really put into words what this was like to see. Sarah taught me so much through my life, she was the most generous, selfless and strong willed person I have ever met and will always be loved and remembered by all our family and friends.
I've decided to shave my hair in honour of my Aunt Sarah. As some of you may know I have been considering it for a long time but there was always a reason not to and it was never the right time. Sarah was always a fan of the idea and told me to stop faffing and worrying, who cares? get on with it. I think she would be happy to see my doing it now. Im also doing it to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, who provided such amazing care for Sarah and support for our family in her last weeks of life - it is a small thank you. I hope that the money we raise will allow others to feel so supported.
