Story
Five years ago my grandma was diagnosed with cancer, this hit me hard as I wasn’t ready to watch someone I love so much suffer the pain that comes with cancer. Unfortunately last year she received a particularly bad diagnosis which shook the whole family.
Around this time she came across this amazing charity called Penny Brohn UK which has helped give her so many positives through the highs and lows of living with cancer.
Penny Brohn is a place based in Pill just outside Bristol, which relies solely on charitable donations. It’s a place where people living with cancer can go for support when they most need it. This support can be anything from acupuncture to a couple of nights retreat. All surrounded by people who understand and set in wonderfully tranquil surroundings.
When talking to my grandma I asked her what’s different about Penny Brohn, she replied:
“When I walk through the doors I automatically feel the warmth and love from the people that are there to help support me and also from the friends I’ve made along the way.”
As this charity means so much to my grandma and my grandma means so much to me, I’ve decided to raise money by running my first Bristol 10k to help give back to the organisation that has given so much to my grandma and many other families. Any donations big or small will be hugely appreciated.
Thank you
Alice
