Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
But first, a little bit about why I'm walking for BHF...
Last year, I was diagnosed with an additional pathway in my heart (Wolff-Parkinson-White). After months of testing and appointments with specialists, I was given the option of a catheter ablation. After much research and practice into managing my symptoms and condition, I decided against surgery and opted to control my heart condition with lifestyle: starting with, getting fitter! With the support of my brilliant husband, father and mother and father-in-law, we are all walking the 50km to prove to myself that I'm able to undertake these challenges, in spite of my condition.
Heart conditions can be extremely scary to contend with but I know that should my condition worsen I have excellent medical options made possible only by the tireless work of charities like the British Heart Foundation.
I want also to raise awareness for heart related conditions, which I must admit I had been pretty ignorant to until my own diagnosis. Every three minutes one person in the UK dies due to heart and circulatory diseases. We need action now. There isn't a moment to lose.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
