Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Taking total inspiration from Captain Tom Moore, I am attempting 'A Path Well Walked' to raise funds for the Devon Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride Day on the 12th September. 50% of money raised on the Ride and Stride Day will go to St Matthew's and 50% to the Devon Historic Churches Trust. At St Matthew's we are intending start the process of major and vital roof repairs in 2021.
The trust provides free advice as well as grants for the preservation of wonderful ancient church buildings. Emergency repair grants when the unexpected happens, for essential repairs, and for refurbishing our ancient buildings to help bring them into the 21st century as shared spaces in the centre of our communities. Our churches are reminders of individual and community history that provide a sense of place and of people, from the past, the present and for those in the future. Your help in ensuring the DHCT continues its valuable funding will be really appreciated.
So the walk: the path that runs across the front of our house is 48 feet long.110 lengths is one mile. 4400 lengths is 40 miles - yikes! This is going to be a real challenge for my tootsies and my tiny mind. For my playlist I wonder (for my out loud playlist) just how many songs are there with words like walk, step, paths? I'm expecting the walk will take a minimum of 13 hours...
I have been 'in training', the furthest I have managed on 'A Path Well Walked' is 30 miles. The thought of adding another 10 miles is daunting, very daunting. However, knowing people are behind me, supporting my efforts and helping take care of our church buildings for future generations will really spur me on. Thank you.
