The purpose of our military charity is to provide homeless veterans of all generations and other homeless folk with hot food and drinks, sleeping bags, warm clothing, footwear, washing and shaving kits. Our welfare team give assistance in helping these heroes find accommodation, work and introduce them to other agencies that can help these brave men and women get their lives back on track.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi everyone,

On the 17th of March 2019, I will be setting off on a 17 day 'trip' to ascend to Mount Everest Base Camp (and I can't wait!)

On average, I will be walking between 4-8 hours a day, spending each night in a different campsite. I will be trekking to a higher altitude than when I jumped out of an aeroplane so.. just shy of 19,000 feet!!!

For full details of my itinerary, please see this link:  https://worldexpeditions.com/Nepal/Trekking-Hiking/Everest-Base-Camp-Kala-Pattar

This is something I have always dreamed of doing and I am fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to make my dream come true so I thought whilst doing it.. why not give a little back?

The Danny Gallivan Trust is a charity who help ex-service men and women who are homeless. They are out on the streets every night serving hot food/drink, fresh bedding/clothing and being a listening ear for those who need them. None of their volunteers are paid to do this.

This year, the charity has re-furbished a double-decker Bus (called Danny) which will house 8 men and 4 women. They will provide them with food, drink, clothes, wash kits and advice. Also being on board the bus will mean they will have a postal address so they will be able to draw their pensions and apply for housing/jobs - you can find full details about the charity on their Facebook page (The Danny Gallivan Trust) or their website: www.dgtrust.org.uk. The charity is completely self funded.

Every single penny I raise will go to this charity and every penny they are given will go towards helping those in need.

Any amount you can give towards me doing this trek is greatly appreciated and going towards such a great cause so please, dig deep!

Thank you for reading. I will keep you all posted with pictures/videos whilst I am there :)
