Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.

Story

On Saturday 10th September Alice and Hannah are walking from Beckenham Place Park to Hampstead Heath, a route of 22 miles taking in 10 London parks. We both wanted to do something positive this year and we are each fundraising for a worthy cause.

We believe that this will be a decent challenge for us both (see: asthma/COPD/neither of us a big fan of exercise!) and we may well be in some fancy dress too.

Hannah's Dad has been having a lot of treatment over the past 18 months and has been well looked after by various NHS hospitals, but most recently has had chemotherapy and immunotherapy at St George's in Tooting. As well as working closely with MacMillan and treating around 4000 new patients every year, the hospital is actively involved in Cancer Research, including the immunotherapy trial that her Dad is on.

Alice has seen the work that Nordoff Robbins do in the community to support people with music therapy, the charity was badly impacted with the pandemic and lost all their opportunities to raise money for the last two years so is hoping to be able to help in a small way towards that deficit.

If you could spare anything to spur us along on our walk we would be very grateful!
