Heartbreakingly, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss and 1 in every 200 births end in still birth in the UK. My family has experienced this first hand. I had two devastating miscarriages between my two healthy children and very sadly, my first nephew, Euan was born sleeping on 2 May 2011. This is a loss that is not spoken about enough and support isn't always easy to find.

Since our losses, I have seen first hand how Abigail's Footsteps have supported some friends who have sadly gone through a similar experience when their daughter was still born. Any funds that you can donate, no matter how small, will help them provide even more valuable support to families in the following ways:

• Creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals.
• Providing much needed equipment for parents to spend longer with their babies such as the Abi cot; a specially designed and affordable cooling cot that contains a refrigerated system that allows parents to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible, helping them through the grieving process.
  
• Offering funded specialist baby loss counselling sessions to families after their loss. 
• Creation of a bereavement garden for parents to spend time in during the grieving process.
• Training midwives in bereavement support and how to manage and care for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby.
