Thames Path Challenge 2016 · 10 September 2016 ·

First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Friends.

I need your help. On 10 September I have crazily agreed to walk 100km (non-stop) along the Thames Path from Putney to Henley.

I thought this sounded relatively easy as it is only a walk, but apparently 30 hours on my feet will be very tough both physically and mentally. My training has also been slightly delayed but I am hoping to put in some hours next week to at least wear in my new trainers!!

It is of course all in the name of a great cause as I am raising money for First Touch. An amazing neo-natal unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting which is a regular life saver for sick and premature babies - looking after over 600 babies each year. I am walking with 10 colleagues and together we are hoping to raise over £4,000 to provide two neo-puffs for First Touch, which enables newborn babies to breathe. Some of the parents at work have experienced support from First Touch firsthand when their babies were born prematurely and I am told the care and service they provided was invaluable.

Any support you can offer me would be enormously appreciated and will help to spur me on especially when it starts to get dark and my head torch is leading my way.

Thank you thank you thank you in advance.....
