Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Multiple Sclerosis Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!  My target is to reach at least last year's average... but I'm sure a lot more is probably possible :-)

I'm doing this because of my oldest friend, who has MS...   Dave married his long-time partner at the end of April and, as an alternative to presents, he's asked for donations to the MS Society; in order to raise more donations than my family can contribute by ourselves, I've decided to participate in Bigfoot 2006, a 50km walk around the Cotswolds in August, and pledge all donations to the MS Society in honour of my friend's wedding.

The MS Society's mission is to enable everyone affected by MS to live life to their full potential and to secure the care and support they need until we find a cure.  The money raised will help the Society to achieve this by extending their MS Nurses programme and investing in MS research to ultimately find a cure.

Also, it will be a major landmark for me personally, as I'm still working on complete mobility since my hip replacement at the end of December 2005!

Many thanks for your support.

STOP PRESS!!

So I've done the training and the press and the fundraising, etc., etc.... but I'm sorry to say I'm not going to do the walk!  My husband, Dave, has gallantly offered instead, because... I'm five weeks pregnant!  For highly sensible reasons, my doctor has advised me not to, you know, overdo anything... and she seemed to feel that 50km over two days would be pushing the limits somewhat!

So, I hope no-one feels cheated to find I'm handing over the baton to my lovely other... But I guess you could say the cause is more worthy with him doing it, because it's being done with virtually no training!

Thank you, Davey :-)
