Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

Towards the end of July, I will be undertaking the biggest physical challenge of my life to date: the Transcontinental Race. In a nutshell, the TCR is a completely unsupported solo cycle race across Europe (from Geraardsbergen in Belgium to Canakkale AKA modern day Troy). I will be cycling every day and sleeping rough along my self-navigated route. It's a pretty long way – somewhere in the region of 3,800 kilometres (http://www.transcontinental.cc/).

I will be raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK because my Godmother's two daughters, Anda and Bibba Baily, were both born with MD. Very sadly, the eldest sister, Anda, died last summer and I will be cycling, exactly one year on, in loving memory of her and others who are living with MD.

Muscular Dystrophy is not a widely known or discussed condition, but it affects thousands of individuals in the UK alone. There is no where near enough support for them or the friends and family caring for them.

As an able bodied person, racing a ridiculous distance across the French/Swiss Alps and Dolomites etc to a giant statue of a Trojan Horse in Turkey is the very least I can do in order to raise awareness for those who aren't physically able.

Even if I don't manage to complete the race in a good time (or even at all!), I hope you can back me in this next big challenge of mine.

No matter how big or small your donation, you will be helping families, like the Bailys, who live with Muscular Dystrophy every day.

Thank you so much,

Alice x
