YUSU RAG's Jailbreak 2017 · 17 March 2017 to 19 March 2017 ·

Kidscan, the children's cancer research charity, is working to promote and support research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of cancers in children. No other charity researches into specifically children’s cancers which makes their work both unique and vital.

Story

Jailbreak is a charitable event organised by the University of York Student Union in order to raise as much as possible for the fantastic children's cancer charity Kidscan. The aim of the game is to get as far away as possible from York campus in 30 hours, without spending any of our own money.

My wonderful teammates, Jasmine and Charles, and I will be setting off at 7am on the 17th March 2017 to see how far we can get in 30 hours, with absolutely no money.

To do this, we will be charming rail and airline companies in order to blag free tickets to wherever we can get, all in the name of charity.

Right now, cancer is the leading cause of death in children in the UK. 25% of children diagnosed with cancer won’t make it to their 30th birthday.
Through groundbreaking research, Kidscan is striving to change that, giving every child with cancer the treatment they need to survive.

Kidscan's aims are:

To cure children with cancer
To improve the treatment of children with cancer
To develop new treatments and support programmes specifically for children suffering from cancer
To be a source of information about childhood cancer.

So that we can pull off this ambitious venture, we would love any support we can get in our mission to raise as much as possible for this incredible cause.

Thank you!

Love, Alice, Charles and Jasmine :) x
