Story

3xSTARMAN with a twist .

Starman is the UK’s first midnight triathlon, (1.9kg swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run with a start time at midnight). Usually it should take place in the middle of August at Carirngorm National Park. Due to the unfortunate circumstances this year (COVID-19) many of the triathlon events have been cancelled, including this amazing event. The triathlon season hasn’t started but it already finished, so I decided to remember this year for more than just a lockdown, COVID and restrictions. I decided to do something special and fun, by virtually entering the Starman event and organising my own triathlon in the real.

I have decided to do this Starman race 3 times in a row to catch up for the two previous occasions that I missed due to clashes with other races. 3 times because triathlons has 3 sports. 3 times because the medal is a triangle 😆

My 3xStarman with a twist will start 14th August at midnight with a swim in Loch Clunie, cycle to Scone airport and finishing with a run to Perth. Then the next day I will twist the even and do it backboards starting with the run in Perth and finishing with a swim back at Loch Clunie. On the final day start again with the swim to end up back in Perth. Three consecutive days of madness, fun and a combined distance of over 210 miles. Exactly 8 weekends to go! Lots of training, planning and organizing ahead. I never been a race director, manager and an athlete at the same time.

Why did I choose to use this opportunity to raise money for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA)? This amazing charity is publicly founded and relies on our donations to keep it going and save lives. Why am I aiming to raise £2,500? This is the average cost of a single rescue operation that can save a life. Why is this a worthy cause? SCAA provide help to emergencies which happen in hard to reach areas of Scotland, they are able to reach 90% of Scottish population in just 25 minutes and deliver them to hospitals for care. Please help me support this great cause. Updates with my journey to tackle 3xStarman even coming soon.
