Story

Every year I try to run a race for charity, focusing on funding medical research or equipment for hospitals. This year I’ve decided to run the Birmingham Half Marathon for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity, as the hospital has recently became hugely important to me and my family.

In the past year, my mother has been diagnosed with lupus, giving rise to a host of various health complications such as acute diverticulitis and kidney disease. My father is also currently being treated for a tumour (acoustic neuroma) in his left ear. Between that and regularly visiting my uncle, who is also at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with an ongoing small cell cancer treatment program, we are back and forth from the hospital maybe two, sometimes three times per week.

I owe so much to the hospital in always being so welcoming and hardworking to treat my family, and thought it was a fitting idea to raise money for them this year. Money raised would go towards medical research, as well as improvements in equipment.

It would mean the world to me if you even read this, but any generosity in donations or spreading the word would be absolutely amazing!
