“After four years working with a range of charities and groups, and inspired by the peer support I experienced, I wanted to find a way to combat the loneliness experienced by young people with cancer using
modern app technology. I know first-hand how isolating cancer can be, which seems extraordinary when in this day and age we’re all connected through our phones. 
What’s even more extraordinary is that 83% of young people diagnosed with cancer will experience loneliness during and after treatment, and nearly four in five of them want to interact online with other young people in similar situations - but there is no digital network to connect them. 
Alike creates that opportunity to build friendships and community. At Alike, we believe technology can be a source for good, when the right tools are put into the hands of people who really need them. There’s just one thing: we need your support to make our app available to the 12,500  young people who get diagnosed with cancer every year.”
