The Brief Story:

The Encephalitis Society is given one chance every five years for a slot to have someone run for their society at the London Marathon. This year I am honoured to have accepted this challenge, and as one of the five ambassadors of the society, I consider it to be my duty to help raise money and awareness for this cause which has been described as "Thief". Encephalitis is an inflammation and swelling of the brain usually caused by a virus.

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Encephalitis. Thankfully I was very lucky to be one of the very few people to have managed to have had a complete recovery. I feel truly blessed to be here today and be in
pursuit of my dreams.

The Society supports those affected by encephalitis, raises awareness, and funds research. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. They make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. They also accept other currencies if you are overseas. So thanks for any help you can give. It is much appreciated. Please send this web address to your friends if you think they'd like to help. Thank you x

Aliki Chrysochou – The Full Story

I have never run a Marathon in my life... I like to run, but have never done any significant long distance running. I am really excited to start training for the London Marathon, and will try my best to keep you all posted with lots of pictures and videos.

Last year I performed at Britain's' Got Talent, and soon after I performed at the semi-final stage, Ava Easton ( CEO of the Encephalitis Society) got in touch with me and asked me whether I would like to become an Ambassador for the society. Needless to say I accepted without any hesitation. I feel blessed that through my singing I have been given the opportunity to help raise awareness to everyone out there and give a hand in need to all of the people who are going through this terrible brain disease.

So...Here I am today accepting the challenge of running for our society at the London Marathon next year.

I’m hoping to raise £10,000. I reckon if I know I’m getting £384 for every painful mile, I can keep going whatever happens. So many thanks for anything you can give, even if it is just a pound (dollar or euro - you can pay in any currency)! All expenses are covered, so every penny you give goes to the Encephalitis Society. If, like my dear grandmother, you can’t make the website work, you can always just send a cheque to me (payable to the Encephalitis Society) c/o 32 Castlegate, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 7DT. Please get in touch if you are interested in Corporate Sponsorship, or if you don’t want to donate, but want to help in some other way, (email alikichrysochou@yahoo.com); And if you can’t donate, or help, then just send me a message to wish me luck! It’ll be appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
