Story
This is from Sam's Mum and Mum to our very own Miss Alice. It is heartbreaking, please help us to raise money and awareness.xx
The reason why I support SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) Action is since my beautiful 19 year old daughter Samantha died from this.
Samantha was 3 years old when she started at DANCE 1 studio. She absolutely loved dancing when she was a little girl. So basically I’ve known Miss Bennett since 1992. When Alice was born in 2007 Samantha was so excited to have a little sister and straight away she said she’ll have to start dancing when she’s old enough.
Unfortunately December 2008 I had a phone call to say Samantha was in hospital as she had an epileptic fit. She had never had one in her life. Then 7 months later 16th July 2009 she was getting ready at home to go to Tenerife the next morning with friends to celebrate the end of exams. When out of nowhere she had a seizure and never came out of it. It breaks my heart everyday knowing that I’ll never see her again. The only thing that has kept me going is my children and husband. The other thing was to start a fundraiser in memory of Samantha. I started it the year after her death and have continued ever since. It’s difficult doing fundraising for charities that no one has ever heard of but so far we have raised almost £47000.00
The money goes into research for such death and to help those who are grieving in offering counselling. So far they have provided APPS for phones of those with epilepsy to alert them if they are struggling with medication. They have purchased and given out seizure pillows to stop suffocation and epilepsy dogs who are trained to pick up seizures. The charity SUDEP Action works so hard to prevent these unnecessary deaths which 3 people a day due from.

The one thing that I’m thankful of is having 19 wonderful years with Samantha and also keeping my promise about Alice going to Dancestudio1.
Slice started at 2 1/2 and is now 14 and a studio assistant. We couldn’t be more proud of her and dancing has really helped her with her grieving too
Miss Alice has her big sister looking down on her at all times and is so happy that you have chosen this charity for your next birthday weekend.
